Khao Yai Jungle, Thailand











Dong Phya Fai or the former Dong Phya Yen is the present Khao Yai which has become one of the popular sights with a flow of visitors every week. The richness of its forested area and water sources result in the abundance of flora and fauna here. The last reason for its popularity is the location that is near Bangkok.

Geography
Khao Yai National Park is placed in the San Kampaeng Range adjacent to the Phanom Dong-rak Range covering an area of 1,355,396.96 rais in four provinces of Nakorn Nayok, Prachinburi, Saraburi and Nakorn Rachasima. It was established as Thailand's national park on September 18, 1962.

The jungle is composed of Dry mixed decidous forest, Dry evergreen forest, Moist evergreen forest, Hill evergreen forest, Savanna and lastly found Deciduous dipterocarp forest that combine to favor the number of wildlife.

Khao Yai comprised a lot of high mountains namely, Khao Laem, Khao Kheao, KHao Samroi, Khao Fapha, Khao Samor-poon, Khao Kaew and the highest peak Khao Rom standing as high as 1,350 meters. It is also a source of many streams and rivers such as Huay Lamtakong, Huay Lamphra-ploeng, Huay Lamphraya-tharn, as well as the rivers of Hanuman, Sai Yai, Prachantakam, Nakorn Nayok, Klong Madua, to name a few.

Climate
The weather varies according to seasons. In summer, it is hot in the daytime and rather cold in the nighttime. Rains fall at all times in the rainy season with mist after, and the night is cool to cold. The sky is clear and the weather is finely cool in the cold season with cold to coldest nights.
